Carpe Diem - Maurizio Altieri
Carpe Diem - Maurizio Altieri's brain child of clothing and footwear line created in 1994.
Maurizio Altieri, is an original master artisan of clothings and footwears which appears as if they were preserved from Christopher Columbus era. He is loved for his aesthetics, purity, selection of materials of highest quality in the production line, ingenious treatment techniques and above all the utilitarian aspect which manifests into his line of creations; be it leathers of different origines or the clothing materials. By all means his craftmanship would appeal even to a novice person as if it resembles his Grandpa's, a piece of history. His original design house was called Carpe Diem, became dysfunctional by 2000 which was famous (or rather infamous) for it's refusal to go main stream. Carpe Diem had hardly ever depended on advertisements, nor did they produce seasonal collections or involved in fashion shows across the globe. But his clientele base was and still is very loyal towards all his creations for it's meticulously hand-crafted rare and exotic leathers and had stitched garments as case of understated luxury which has achieved a legendary cult status even after the line is long gone. Carpe Diem items emanate little rugged look which would mould to the wearers body and characteristics with time and use.
There are many offshoots of Carpe Diem and they are all interesting because of the original gene which the other designers carried along with them while creating their own design houses. Carpe Diem, Linea, L'Maltieri, Evoluzione, Anatomica, Sartoria, Avantindietro, (Memories ?) are all originated and created from Maurizio Altieri's workshops. Probably he's located in Perugia these days concentrating on the creation of his latest line, Avantindietro. Other names of his associates from Carpe Diem period are also became quite successful by creating their own unique crafts in eloquent ways. Few of the known names are Simone Cechetto (1923Augusta), Maurizio Amadei (M.A+), Luca Laurini (Label Under Construction), Sara Lanzi (SL), Marvie (Marvielab), Jun Hashimoto (WJK), Yoko Ito (Individual Sentiments), Issei Fujita (Lumen et Umbra),
One of the most famous old school (very old school!!) boots from Carpe Diem - S23 model.

The laces were cut from a single piece of leather showcasing the round end.
