Avantindietro is the latest work of Maurizio Altieri who had created the monolith, Carpe Diem

If Carpe Diem was the past, Avantindietro is the future present for all of it's followers. Maurizio Altieri had cut the life line of everybody's rugged favorites, Carpe Diem around 2006 but brings out a more modern aesthetics for people who want more from the same creative mind. Design might have changed for good (or bad for the truely conservative followers of it's original form); but the colors, materials and treatment can still be traced back to it's predecessor.

The all new Avantindietro are some sort of aerodynamically designed boots aimed at Darth Vader for one of his semi-formal day out. It seems like Altieri doesn't like seams, stitchings or any other kind of fittings which can constrict fluidity of the design.

The footwear has its positives and negatives, although negatives may outweigh the positives for some people. The silhouette is quite a craft as if it could slip away from your hands because of the fluid looks. Like much of Altieri's work, the pieces will take on a whole new life when worn, as if the spirit of the individual wearing it is extended through and into his work. The heel set can be a concern for heavy abusers though. It appears that the heel can wear out quickly and while doing so, may take away the leather of the upper's heel and toe with it. Shoes/boots with thicker soles made out of stacked leather faces the same problem and in the case of Avantindietro it can wear out even faster. The problem can be solved quite easily with the help of a good cobbler by adding Vibram soles.

Personal verdict :- It is kind of an on-off call, the shoes are beautiful in a minimalist way which would look great for a while but would not take much wear unless you are planning to wear it in bed, may be a little too delicate looking for men.
